I’ve loved this song for a while, cos it sounds beautiful, and the video is pretty cool…and I have a crush on the two guys in the band…yep, both of them…that’s just how I roll. Anyway, it was only today that I decided to actually listen to the words and try to translate them and actually understand the song…and now I love it even more…that’s if I translated the song correctly (help would be appreciated from any Afrikaans speakers out there.)

Title: Gisteraand
Artist: Dans Dans Lisa
Album: Die gids vir grootword
Year: 2010
Gisteraand het die wêreld vergaan
Vanoggend het ek wakker geword
En ek het steeds bestaan
Ek dink dit was my skuld , ek dink dit was
en die’s my tweede kans
Dit was anders as gewoonlik
Die nag het om die liggies gedans
Almal was vrolik, mense het mekaar verstaan
daar was musiek soos stilte daar was
Translation:
=======================
Last night the world ended
This morning I woke up
And I still exist (I was still around…)
I think it was my fault, I think it was
and it’s my second chance
It was different than usual
Twas the night the lights danced
Everyone was happy, people understood each other
there was music like there was silence
and it was beautiful and I was there
This morning was the most beautiful
Everything had suddenly calmed down (?)
I had yet another chance
as the sun rises after the rainfall
Awake, awake,
all is as it was and we are here
Last night the world ended
Last night the world ended
Last night the world ended, and I was there
