Hope In Love

Archive for the ‘Uncategorized’ Category

i never want to get used to death.

i hope it keeps shaking me up.

i hope seeing a life taken keeps breaking me.

i mean, i would rather not see it happen…

…but if i ever do, may i never pass by without giving it a second thought.

that was someone’s father, brother, son…

and indepenently of all others, a human being.

may i never stop seeing the human in others

may i never lose my humanity.

morality is a weird thing. like, i try to be a good person and all that – and i think i succeed for the most part, but then there are the grey areas.

lance armstrong cheated to win. he says he was just leveling the playing field or whatever, but at the end of the day, he cheated.

if he hadn’t, he wouldn’t have won, and i wouldn’t have ever known about the tour de france, or anytning cycling related. he wouldn’t have gotten a whole lot of sponsorships and started a foundation for cancer research and all that.

but he did. and lives have been or potentially will be saved because of it.

a bunch of his old sponsors want to sue him and make him pay back the money he made off of them, but what about the money they made off of him? like, i’m sure there are people out there who bought a certain bike or whatever other product because lance armstrong used it…are they allowed to get refunds from the companies?

some angry person on twitter the other day was talking about how lance wrongly motivated people…wtf? wrongly motivated? either he motivated you to do shit, or he didn’t. and if he did, then you gained from it. how dare you be angry about recieving motivation.

so maybe he did cheat and then go on to lie about it, but good came out of it yea?

and i do so many wrong things in my life, like who am i to judge him for what he did.

i wish he hadn’t cheated, i really do. but well, he did. it’s over. let’s keep living strong and fighting for cancer patients and stuff, yea?

Disconnected
Out of touch
Sailing in the sea with no land in sight

I need to feel the earth beneath my feet
I need to feel grounded again

Too many thoughts racing in too many directions
Need to bind them
Need them to stop

Need to rest!

Cannons

Posted on: April 26, 2010

Title: Cannons
Artist: Phil Wickham
Album: Singalong
Year: 2008

It’s falling from the clouds
A strange and lovely sound
I hear it in the thunder and rain
It’s ringing in the skies
Like cannons in the night
The music of the universe plays

You are holy great and mighty
The moon and the stars declare who You are
I’m so unworthy, but still You love me
Forever my heart will sing of how great You are

Beautiful and free
Song of Galaxies
It’s reaching far beyond the milky way
Lets join in with the sound
C’mon let’s sing it loud
As the music of the universe plays

All glory, honor, power is Yours amen
All glory, honor, power is Yours amen
All glory, honor, power is Yours forever amen

This post is part of a weekly worship blog carnival, so do stop by the worship community for more setlists and sermon recaps from around the world…

Morning
=========

Desert song (Brooke Fraser)
Eagle’s Wings (Reuben Morgan)
Dula Le Rona (Paul Mpete)
Hungry (Kathryn Scott)
Let me be found at your table (Brad Klynsmith)

Arnie and I led the morning worship. My first time actually leading. Strangely enough though I didn’t get my usual stage-fright. God is just super awesome like that…doesn’t let stupid things get in the way of his glory.

Anyway, Brett preached on sin this morning…using Hebrews 12: 1 – 2 and Romans 12: 1- 2.
– What is the thing that is the main temptation in your life?
– What is the sin it leads to?
– What is the death that comes out of that sin?

Basically he talked about how we let sin entangle us and keep us from running the race, and how the way to get out of that entanglement is to have a mind-shift; to repent and turn away from whatever is leading us into sin and to run to God.

Also, we need to remember that our sins don’t define us. Sin leads to condemnation, but the Spirit leads to conviction. Condemnation makes you think you can’t do anything because you are not good enough. Conviction leads to you saying “yes, i’m not good enough on my own, but i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

Evening
========

Be Glorified
Redeeming Love
Great is your faithfulness
Purify my heart
Consuming fire
You won’t relent

Ron led the worship this evening. Brett did the same preach from the morning, but with a little twist.

Roslyn, one of our members, sang a song she had written (will need to get the title from her at some point) and then we went off into the hall and all sat there meeting with God and preparing ourselves to worship. Then once everyone was done we started with the worship. Then afterwards was the preach. But the best part of the evening for me was after the preach during ministry time when people came forward with their struggles and entanglements and stuff and they were prayed for.

quotes of the week:

“Maybe I wanted to hear it so badly that my ears betrayed my mind in order to secure my heart.” – Margaret Cho

“Melody is like seeing someone for the first time – the physical attraction. But then as you get to know the person that’s the lyrics, their story, who they are underneath. It’s the combination of the two that makes it magic. Music and Lyrics.” – @FeistyFemale (via twitter)

“We always assume that life on other planets is more advanced than ours, but what if we someday find aliens and they’re all idiots? Or they’re stuck a few thousand years behind us in terms of cultural advances. We show them our iPhones and 3D Ultrasounds and they share with us how to make fire and create wheels.” – Bryan Allain (then we’ll just call in Wikus van der Merwe! lolest!)

verse of the week:

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. – Proverbs 3:3
