Ronel led the morning service.

Chris the pastor preached on believing and living in God’s promises.

We trust in God’s promises because:
God is faithful
God can’t lie
God never changes

Hebrews 11 & 12; matthew 14

it’s pointless to just believe his promises and not walk in them – step out in faith!

Later on in the evening I read this in my friend’s journal, which seemed very apt: Give all He asks, and take all He promises.

Kev led today – another accoustic vibe set: 2 accoustic guitars, 1 keybourd, and a djembe.

Val did the preach today…and it was awesome. She talked on social justice.

in the old testament justice comes up with righteousness quite a lot – right justness. (e.g. isaiah 42: 1 – 4)

4 main groups – Widows Poor Alien Orphan (e.g. exodus 22: 21 – 22, Duet 27: 19, Isaiah 1: 17 & 10: 1 – 2)

However it is not just reserved for those 4 groups, it’s for everyone. Justice is a god-given huma right and by withholding justice you are acting injustly (leviticus 4: 15, exodus 23:2, duet 1: 16 – 17)

Why were Israel commanded to show justice ?
- in remembrance of the justice God shown them bringing them out of egypt etc (leviticus 19 :33, due 24: 21)
- God loves Justice (Isaiah 58: 6 – 7 & 51: 8, Psalm 37: 28 &99: 44)

Shalom = not just peace, as in absence of war or strive, but peace with yourself, with your nieghbour, with the environment, and with God. So holistic peace. And to be at peace with your neighbour you need to be just with them…otherwise you can’t be at peace with God – Jehovah Shalom. (Isaiah 6, Micah 5: 4- 5, John 16: 33)
